so three weeks ago i went to the doctor for something unrelated and they did some blood work and found that i have hypothyroidism, which explains most of my symptoms that i’ve been having lately (fatigue, unable to lose weight, feeling generally “yucky”) and have began me on meds to help regulate it. they said it would take up to a few months to get the meds regulated and when i am regulated, i would feel like a new woman and they pounds that i’ve been so desparately trying to loose (all my healthy eating has lowered my already low chlorestoral numbers) should begin to drop off!!! on the upside, the last 3 times i’ve been at the doctors office my blood pressure has been 100/65, 80/55 & 100/65 so those are some good numbers and doc has had to reduce my blood pressure meds down to almost nothing!!! but with this hypothyroidism, all my meds have been readjusted….my blood pressure, my anxiety…ugh….
additionally, after a whirlwind trip to New Orleans, LA (that’s another whole blog post!)…doc found out that i now have asthma! so now i have two inhalers to have at all times along with all my other meds….
while i’m happy to be feeling better and on the road to a healthy lifestyle, getting old sucks!!!
not many understand the dynamics of my family but i have nieces & nephews who are more like my sisters and thus their children more like my nieces & nephews rather then “greats”. with that being said there are 3 “greats” who are more like nieces and nephews…but in theory they are my son’s siblings so they are kinda like my kids too. i love hanging out with them and sharing time with them and letting my son do stuff with his brother & sisters. we got to spend some time with some of them this week on Spring Break…and Jayden gets to spend the day over there tomorrow…great times….great memories.
so for months it’s been in the plans….and then finally it arrives. April 2. i could barely contain my excitment at being able to be with my two BFF’s all weekend. our friendships originally were forged over Mexican food while lamenting over the current office politics at Philips. and time and circumstances caused them to go deeper and share more secrets, double dates with spouses, our kids intertwined as well. and so…since it takes a small act of God to get our schedules together now, we planned this weekend back in early February.
what most don’t understand is that women need other women to interact with…that if they don’t have that they become introverted and depressed. this past weekend was a well needed break for all of us. we had so much to catch up on, so much to share and so many laughs to have…and believe me we did!!!! from some awful food, to some hilarious conversations over turkey parts, to shopping til we dropped (almost)…it was much needed and much enjoyed by all.
so…to my two BFF’s….thank you for the laughs and for the memories but mostly for being my best friends!!!
