So, I seem to go in spurts…time to blog and my thoughts are all in order and then…BAM…life gets in the way.
In December, I traveled to DC, had disagreement with a friend, Lakota had her leg amputated, lost one of my childhood friends, reconnected with other childhood friends and the holidays were upon us. It was my first Christmas – EVER – with no family.
In January, I turned 29 for another time, had another disagreement with the same friend, spent time with the Worlds Greatest Son, made up with said friend, had yet another disagreement with the said friend, and celebrated my hubby’s 44th birthday.
A very good of friend of mine said this to me, “Extract yourself out of every relationship that doesn’t add value to you life.” This has become my New Years Resolution.
So there was hype about privacy changes that would affect my being a “Google-aholic” around March 1 of this year and I have been looking for a place for my blog every since. I feel like I’ve lost big chunks of my life during the time that I’ve not been able to blog. Ahhh…so since February…lots and lots of happened.
My family has been living with my Dad since Christmas of 2009. Now that my Dad has recovered, living conditions have become tense. We are just all tired of living together. So…for the past couple of months I have been looking for houses in Columbus, Indiana to relocate. To say that we are all ready…an understatement. Now if we can just get all the pieces to fall into place…
In March, I traveled to Austin, TX for work. Talk about a fun time!! I worked in Austin for two days, saw one of my best friends ever – Brenda Lee Troupe and her wonderful sons and then packed up my computer and spent 5 days working from my niece Amanda’s house. I was able to see baby Tristan and Ethan & Corbin!! What a great time I had with my work, friends and family.
When I came home from Texas, I was on vacation for Spring Break with the World’s Greatest 7th Grader and AKA. We did many day trips to Shipshewana & Kalamazoo; bike rides and photo shoots. Next to last day of vacation, I take my brand new bike out to give it a test spin and low and behold, crashed it. I almost shattered my knee cap and had to have a trip to the doc. The knee the size of a cantaloupe and the bruising has slowly, oh so slowly, began to heal.
The day after vacation ended, a friend from church’s son was in a horrible car accident. 8 days of fighting for his life, the 22 yr old passed away. It was a horrible time. We celebrated his life this past Saturday. There was not a dry eye in the place as person after person shared memories of Jared. You truly never know how much you touch someone. The next day was the anniversary of my sisters passing. I kept a very low key day with my boys and remembered good times spent with my beloved “Sissy”.
Lots has happened in the past 2 months…is it a wonder that I’ve not had time to blog?? Now that my blog has a home, maybe I’ll be better at sharing snippets of my life.
I counted the hours for vacation to get here. I answered emails and phone calls and tied up as many loose ends as I could find before closing time on December 22. Vacation hit and shopping ensued. Christmas shopping, last minute shopping, grocery shopping. Lunches with friends, dinners with friends and making sure all the i’s were dotted and t’s were crossed. Christmas Eve came and Mission Impossible 4 was watched, Cheeseburgers in Paradise were made, presents opened and “It’s a Wonderful Life” watched. Christmas Day came and my Miller girls (& Dennis) came over along with the in-laws. We ate smoked ham, Jason’s famous turkey, Christmas potatoes and lots of good food made by the Chef and his mom. We got wonderful Cheyenne Susan for Christmas. Christmas was great! Vacation was here!
The Christmas decorations were down and boxed back for next year by the 27th. The hubby and I shopped some after Christmas sales, went to Shipshe for a day, went to dinner a couple times together alone. Had more kids in my house than I bargained for. New Years Eve had my Miller girls (& Dennis), Brian & my other hubby Shane and his wife Laurita. We rang in 2012 and were all home and in bed by 1am.
Today brought good news from the Chiropractor…back has healed almost completely. Hopefully only maintenance appointments now. Bowling, walking & Dance Party 3 here I come…I’m determined to be active again.
While I have loved my time away from my job, I’m really ready for some routine. My conference calls, my email, my phone calls, my projects, my CMAST…oh how I’ve missed you!!!
Wow! It seems forever since I was able to sit down and catch the blog up!
Things in my life are going well. I have had plantars fiacitis & a pinched sciatic nerve this year. I’m finally starting to feel a little better and was even able to walk a half mile tonight. A big improvement, I assure you. Getting old officially sucks as my right ankle (old injury) and my right knee (old injury) both are swollen but I am determined to be able to walk and not be winded. I am determined to be active if it’s the last thing I do.
Dad is doing well. He’s had two successful cataract surgeries, and is able to drive again. This is a blessing to us. His health continues to improve. He helps alot around the house and is even talking about doing some projects around the house I’ve wanted done…namely a lazy Susan in the kitchen and adding more shelves into a kitchen cabinet and making other closets in the utility room into coat closets for us.
Jason is doing well. He’s been biking 12 miles a day and running a mile. He looks wonderful. His running days are now behind him as he has some sort of knee issue and is grounded to walking until further notice. His job is doing well and we are slowly adjusting to life in the parents house.
Jayden is flourishing into quite the tween. All of a sudden he’s all but 3″ of my height. His chest is filling out. His face isn’t smooth as a baby’s butt. Mr. Principals Honor Roll for the first 9 weeks of 7th grade is doing very well in school. We are anxiously awaiting for November 17 as the stage 2 braces come off for good. He’ll be in retainers until he’s in college, but his braces days are almost over.
Our new addition, Seneca is as fiesty as ever. She keeps the house in constant chaos. Lakota just looks at her and all but shakes her head in disgust. Fun times in the puppy department at our house, for sure!
Last year we were cleaning, painting and moving from Sept – December. This year we are settled and looking forward to the holiday’s. I’m looking forward to trying to make up a Christmas to my boy who so graciously gave up so much last year so we could move in and get my dad home from the nursing home.
